Fort Kochi Beach's Biggest Cleanup Returns on March 28
Fort Kochi's largest beach cleanup is back. Trash Hunt 4.0 on March 28 needs your hands, your energy, and two hours of your morning.
Published 25 March 2026
Have you noticed that My Beloved Fort Kochi Beach has a waste problem? Well, it goes deeper than what you see on the sand. Waste from the Vembanad Lake, plastic packaging from nearby shops, fishing nets, thermocol, and water hyacinth - all of it washes ashore daily with the tides.
On March 28, 2026, Treasure Trash Hunt is coming to Fort Kochi Beach to do something about it. Trash Hunt is run by Captains, a youth-led volunteering organisation in Kerala.
Update:
Quick Details:
Location: Fort Kochi Beach📍
Timings: Activities (Like trash bag making, workshops) start from 11AM onwards on March 28th. Registration for Beach Clean up opens at 3PM. and The Clean Up will be from 3.30PM to 6PM
March 28 is a Saturday. Gloves and bags provided. The beach, unfortunately, will provide the trash.
What Is Trash Hunt?
The format is simple but effective: volunteers get gloves, garbage bags, and a timed mission to collect as much non-biodegradable waste as possible. The waste gets weighed and recorded. Surprise reward coupons are handed out during the cleanup. And the whole thing wraps up with a celebration ceremony.
This edition is being called a "Beach Volunteering Festival." Beyond the cleanup itself, the plan includes structured volunteering arenas, community engagement zones, and a formal closing ceremony.
You can join as an individual or represent your school, college, or organisation.
Will One Day Of Volunteering Make A Change?
Yes. Volunteer-led cleanups aren't a permanent fix. But they do two things that other type of drives often don't: they get young people to actually care about the beach, and they generate public pressure that makes it harder for authorities to ignore the problem.
