Beach
Chellanam is a working fishing coast about 14 kilometres south of Fort Kochi. A long wall of tetrapods now stands between the sea and the villages, showing the scale of the coastal erosion the area has faced. This is a place to understand a living, changing shoreline rather than a conventional swimming or sunbathing beach; reach it by bus or taxi along the coastal road.

- Early in the morning there may be nobody else on the beach.
